Do we need to stop 1984?

How do we stop 1984 from happening?

Short answer: 

It's 2021, 1984 was 37 years ago so it'll never happen haha brrrr 🤡

Real Answer:

How did the world become like it did in 1984? Several political parties, or more likely military organizations, gained enough power that they came to control 3 large swathes of land respectively and then started a perpetual war even though they can't beat each other in an effort to brainwash the population to keep power. 

To me, this does not sound very plausible in the present day world. If anyone tries to control more than their fair share of land the entire world rebels. This is a big reason why we have had a lot of wars in our history, just take a look at both world wars (yes they obviously had other reasons as well but in both cases land was taken over, lost, broken up, etc).

In every situation where people say something is "Orwellion", is it really anything close to this book? I obviously don't know every instance where this term has been used, in fact I don't know many at all, but I feel confident in saying that it's not as bad as the book. Individual instances may be similar to a single part of the book but as a whole we are far becoming like 1984.

(Wow I just realized 1984 was written in 1948)

In 1948, though not really plausible people had fears that the situation in this book could become reality, now it is even less plausible. Then society would had regressed socially but now to get to that point we would have to regress even more. For so many people to globally lose their rights and for said effort to succeed, I don't think this will ever happen.

As long as people pay attention to the global situation I think there is no fear of an Orwellian society, modern society will make sure of that itself.
